A recent study of just how social networking sites lead college students to establish, see, and participate in “hooking up” revealed that while every person try making reference to they, nobody is exactly yes what it indicates.

The study, carried out by Amanda Holman, a doctoral scholar at University of Nebraska- Lincoln, and Dr. Alan Sillars of institution of Montana, was executed on 274 university students at extreme general public institution. They found that while 94 % of participating people were knowledgeable about the phrase “hooking up,” there was clearly no consensus with what “hooking right up” actually entailed. Over one half defined a hookup as including sex, nine % outlined it not including intercourse and about one-third said it may be unclear about whether “hooking upwards” needed to entail gender. Put another way, “hooking up” could mean nothing from kissing to sexual intercourse. (For a listing of different euphemisms, read below.)
